ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born 1965, the year after Bill & Carlo graduated from Philadelphia College of Art.
I graduated from the same school, under the name University of the Arts, in 1988.
My concentration was metal smithing.
1989 was Young Artist in Residence at Millersville University.
1990 had me in Memphis as intern at the National Ornamental Metal Museum.
1991 brought life style change through spinal cord injury.
The 1990’s introduced me to calculus, physics, graphs, and spreadsheets at Delaware County Community College, beginning with welding class.
~2005 to 2015 saw a lot of outdoor activity, initiating with pushing my wheelchair up the Mt. Washington Auto Road.
I lived a decade in southern Maine and saw wood stove fires and plenty of snow.
In 2018 I moved back to Delaware County to be near family.
I have a trusted friend who is a member of MRAC so I thought to join this community.
I am usually doing something.
I try to do this ‘doing of things’ deeply, directly, deliberately.
I think about what it is to do things devotionally.
Reading, writing, drawing and modeling, calculating, experimenting.
I do not have a consistent history with galleries but have done ad hoc exhibition and presentation.
I have worked in math learning support and adaptive climbing and recreation.
I have always been making things- from wire hangers and masking tape and cardboard as a youngster, through coppersmithing and metalworking and abstract dance performance, endurance athletics, lately more musings on infinite series and spreadsheets and digital images. Always more metal ideas and accessible furnishing ideas and ideas of ideas of ideas.
I am from an Irish Catholic family. Possibly more coincidental than attending the same college as Bill and Carlo is also attending the same high school as Carlo. We three are sort of products of one culture, leaves from one tree.
