MRAC Annual Holiday Art Sale
The Manayunk-Roxborough Art Center presents “MRAC Annual Holiday Art Sale” with an opening reception Sunday, November 8, 2015, from noon to 3:00 P.M. The exhibit includes original paintings, photographs, jewelry, ceramics and mixed media work, created by members of the Manayunk-Roxborough Artists Co-Op, all priced for holiday gift-giving. This is an opportunity to purchase unique artworks for the unique gift recipients you have in mind.
Co-Op members who will offer artworks in various media and styles include Fred Moore, who will exhibit his enhanced digital photograph titled, “Tornado Sunrise”, which measures approximately 16” X 20” and is remarkable for its use of color and contrast. His “Oldest Bridge in the New World” is a black and white, infrared photograph, (about 16” X 24”) that depicts an arched, stone bridge spanning a creek, surrounded by foliage. The two works are printed on canvas and demonstrate Moore’s mastery of two quite different techniques. The multi-talented Karen S. Elliott will show her hand-made earrings and her crocheted handbags, hats and scarves as well as examples of “lint art”: i.e., vivid designs created from dryer lint. Mike Muir will offer oil paintings, including “Aurora Borealis and Beyond” and “Martha’s Vineyard”, both of which showcase the artist’s keen sense of location and understanding of light and structure. New MRAC member Karen Heller’s oil paintings, “Still Life with White Hand” (6” X 6”) and “Still Life with Red Glass” (15” X 13”) are both thoughtfully composed and brightly colored oil on panel paintings. Co-Op artists work in many media – from watercolor, oil and acrylic paints and pastels to photography, sculpture, assemblage, jewelry, ceramics, folded paper, and mixed media. There are certain to be works of art to match a myriad of tastes and budgets in this exhibit.
